Abatis Recording Studio

Travelled from Rugby to record a bit of a vanity project to leave to my kids. (My life through my favourite songs and ones I used to sing them). A day and a half and all songs done. Amazing set up and incredibly talented. Professional, and friendly. Highly recommend for professional artists and for those just wanted to record something for themselves.

John is so talented. He has the level of expertise that I wanted, and levelled up my music massively. I came to John with a voice recording, some lyrics and chords- he worked with me to turn it into a complete, full song with loads of instruments. I am so pleased. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. He is an excellent musician and producer. You will be in safe hands. Thanks so much John. Great set-up. Lots of very high-quality, expensive equipment. I cannot recommend him enough.

I‘ve been working with Jon for over 10 years now , which in itself tells a story. Living in Rugby, the studio is in great proximity. There are loads of reasons why Jon is a solid choice, but for the purpose of this review, I’ll share my own reasons. First and foremost, he‘s an absolute gem of a gent and never fails to create a positive, creative and light hearted banter environment. Secondly, not only is he is an incredible producer, he‘s a superb bassist and guitar player (both electric and acoustic, rhythm and lead), and he's always there to step in and help. This is pretty essential for a guy like me with limited technical capabilities (and lowsy timing). Over the years we have developed a great relationship where I feel at total ease to share a vision of what the song sounds with a simple piano or acoustic demo, then we start building it. It‘s a great feeling, particularly given I could never do it on my own. So, if you are a songwriter, solo artist or just someone who lacks confidence or technical ability to create your own songs to a professional standard, then this is your guy. He literally is the all inclusive 5 * package deal and I can’t thank him enough for giving me the chance to do something I never thought i could. It‘s also important to call out the incredible value for money aspect. The only negative, and to echo an other review, he dodges the kettle big time when it comes to making the brew ;-)

What can i say! Travelled from Derbyshire to near Kenilworth to record my new album, jon is so easy to work with, incredibly knowledgeable and very reasonably priced! I dont think I could recommend it more. Not only is he knowledgeable he is also a great guy.

Just spent this past weekend working with Jon and my band. Fantastic location in kenilworth and only an hours drive from our Birmingham base. Great day recording drums and bass for our album. Cant wait to get in again for guitar and vocal work. Highly recommend visiting Abatis!
